The effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in tinnitus-related complaints

Is there a connection between tinnitus and depression, anxiety, cognitive problems and sleep problems? We found a thesis from Malmö University that investigated the connection and we would like to share this with you.

Work carried out by Viktoria Ekelund and Janina Yin aimed to investigate the following:

"The aim of this study was to increase the knowledge of tinnitus among general nurses and nursing students, with two specific questions. The first was what evidence there is for a relationship between tinnitus and depression, anxiety, cognitive problems and sleep problems. The second question was about which ways in which cognitive behavioral therapy has an effect on tinnitus-related
trouble."

An interesting thought they pointed out was:

"Suggested recommendations for implementation in healthcare is that then
the nurse encounters a patient with tinnitus the nurse should inquire about
any problems, and if necessary recommend cognitive behavioral therapy."

Feel free to read their work to gain a broader understanding of the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in tinnitus-related problems.
